Site-Based Teams

The Byram Hills Site-Based Teams are organized by school and members work with the building principals to support the school-based initiatives and goals. Members of the Site-Based Teams meet periodically throughout the year as scheduled within each building. Additionally, the Site-Based Teams meet two times per year district-wide for the purpose of sharing the work within each building and collaborating across buildings on district-wide initiatives.

The district-wide focus always includes: character education; cultural proficiency; and environmental sustainability. Each year, the building teams choose a goal, aligned to the District-wide focus.

Additionally, we review and present various aspects of our curriculum at the district-wide meetings, and building level teams may align goals to this focus as well.

Membership
Byram
Hills School District
benefits from a high level of parent participation in school activities and committees. The administration, teachers and students appreciate the dedication of the many families who volunteer to work in partnership with the school schools. The benefit to our students is immeasurable, and we are grateful for parent participation.

Parents, teachers and administrators serve on the Site-Based Teams. Teachers volunteer to serve on the school's team to support the goals and initiatives identified by the schools.

The parent members of the Site-Based Team are selected by the PTSA; we usually have 2-3 site-based parent members per school, and they should be available to attend the two district-wide meetings listed below as well as additional meetings if necessary at the building level. Please contact the PTSA representative for your child’s school if you wish to serve on the Site-Based Team.

Additionally, parents may serve on the District-wide team only in order to provide input into the district-wide focus. Interested parents should contact the Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Tim Kaltenecker, to express interest in joining the team.

The District's Shared Decision-Making Plan provides the process for membership and purpose of the site-based teams.

Thanks for your help in making Byram Hills a great place to learn!
