ADOPTION OF BUDGET
PROPOSAL
The Board and administration have been reviewing the
2003-04 budget proposal in a series of hearings which
began in January. As required by State rules, at its

proposal of $49,281,287. This budget proposal is next
submitted to the district's voters on May 20, 2003
- H.C. Crittenden Middle School is the polling place,

Earlier Board meetings reviewed in detail the rationale
for budget increases (including significant enrollment
growth and costs of contractual increases, health
insurance, and State retirement). Also reviewed in
earlier meetings, and confirmed again on

The Board also discussed the possibility of a State-mandated
delay of the May 20 voting date, a subject of some
speculation between the Legislature and the Governor
recently, and agreed that it was important to notify
our elected representatives in Albany that any such
delay would be inadvisable.
BOND VOTE
Also to be decided by the district's voters on May
20 is the Bond Proposal for Physical Education and
Athletic Facilities, in the amount of $4.6MM. Cost
of the bond to the owners of a $500,000 market-value
house would be under $57 per year. Details on the
Bond Proposal will be mailed to every household in
early May.
