Bond Proposal Update
March 30 is the vote date on the district's Bond proposal
for additional classroom facilities, so Board members Wendy
Gardner and Gail Reese commented on the communications efforts
of the Board and volunteers such as the PTSA. They emphasized
the hope that the district's voters will turn out on 3/30.
BHTA Contract Extension
The Superintendent recommended, and the Board moved unanimously
to approve, a one-year extension of the district's contract
with the Byram Hills Teachers Association. The chief feature
of the extension is a base salary increase of 3.6%, which
is in keeping with other teacher contracts in the region.
Dr. Taylor and Mr. Chambers emphasized the good news of the
continuing cooperation and mutual respect between the Teachers
Association and the district.
Board Reports
Rick Kaplin and John Grimes, also members of the Byram Hills
Education Foundation board, reported on the great success
of the Foundation's benefit Gala, held on 3/19. While final
figures were not yet tallied, Mr. Kaplin said that the Gala
appeared to be a more successful event than ever before. Thanks
were extended to the members of the Foundation board and other
volunteers who worked so heard on the event, and to all those
who support the Foundation's efforts.
Executive Session
On both 3/22 and 3/23, the Board conducted executive sessions
on personnel, negotiations, and legal
|
matters.
