SCIENCE RESEARCH
The Board honored Byram Hills High School seniors
who were concluding their three years of participation
in the Science Research Program. Many of the students
and parents were present, but a complete list follows:
Jonathan Cohen, Jenny Ding (SF), Cynthia Fong, Shimran
George, David Gershel, Nicholas Hiromura (SF), Melissa
Kim (SF), Ryan Klarberg, Adam Kroll (SF), Danielle
Liso, Connie Perretta, Lindsey Schachter, Jennifer
Simpson, Adam Waksman, Stephen Kramer (F), Shannon
Nash, Zeba Syed (SF), and Alex Veach.
Every one of these seniors was commended for follow-through
on the extraordinary commitment demanded

by the Science Research Program. In addition, others
were recognized for their achievement of Semifinalist
(SF) or Finalist (F) status in the Intel Science Search.
Finally, late breaking news concerning two of the
seniors was also celebrated: Melissa Kim was selected
as an Regional Finalist by the Young Epidemiological
Scholars, and received a $2,000 scholarship; David
Gershel was selected as a National Finalist, and received
an additional $12,000 scholarship.
Well-deserved applause was also offered for the teachers
who guide the efforts of these researchers through
their high school years- Dr. Robert Pavlica, Zenaida
Bongaarts, and Ken Kaplan.
