The Board opened
its meeting with several actions shown on the following
page, including appointments of new teachers, and the
acceptance- with thanks and
appreciation- of the resignation of Magda Parvey, who
will be leaving her post as Assistant Principal of The
Coman Hill School to assume a position as principal
of a school closer to her home on Long Island.
Facilities Project Update
The District's consultants from Triton Construction
and Perkins Eastman Architects were again present
for an overview of progress on the Classroom and Core
Facilities Project, as well as the Athletic Facilities
Project. Highlights on the former topic included bid
recommendations, accepted by the Board

of Education, which will effectively start the work
at The Wampus School this summer. With Byram Hills
High School already under construction, and bids for
Coman Hill already accepted, only the bid recommendations
for H.C. Crittenden are needed to get the project
fully underway; the HCC bid recommendations are expected
by July 1. With all construction at the four schools
underway by the end of this summer, prospects are
good for completion of BHHS, WA, and CH by September
2006, with HCC not too far behind.
The project budget overview also contained good news-with
bids for three schools accepted, the project stands
about $1.7MM under overall estimates.
Completion of the Athletic Facilities Project, approved
by the voters on may 17, now enters a final phase
of bidding, with bid recommendations expected in July.
2005-06 Calendar
Minor adjustments were made in the calendar for the
new school year, which is again attached. These changes,
and several early dismissal dates, were necessitated
