The Board met on the evening of the opening day of
school, September 7, to accomplish some essential
business and celebrate the return of students and
teachers. Teachers, in fact, had been at school the
week before-the whole staff was in attendance August
31 through September 2, making ready for the arrival
of students on September 7.
Opening Day Reports
Mr. Chambers reported that 2,801 students were registered

the opening of school, thanks both to a report from
Mr. Carlson and the visit of a parent to the Board
meeting, expressing concern about some bus routes
having unscheduled stops. Safety and time on route
were key considerations. Mr. Carlson promised efforts
to improve any problems with the bus routes as soon
after the opening of school as possible, asking for
patience through the first days of "shakedown."
Facilities Update: Fields Project
