Athletic Facilities Project
Turning to review progress on the athletic facilities work currently under way, the Board expressed satisfaction at hearing that the new all-weather, multi-purpose field at BHHS should be ready for Homecoming Weekend, October 15 and 16. All boys' and girls' fall sports should be able to use the new field from that point on. Other natural grass fields on the high school campus are also coming toward completion of renovation and drainage improvements, and should be back in play for the spring season.

Still ahead in the list of work remaining from the $4.6MM athletic facilities bond, approved by the voters in May of 2003, are re-bids on the construction of a new concession stand/utility building, an expansion of the Wellness Center, and a renovation of the locker rooms at the high school.

A dedication of the new multi-purpose field, featuring an expression of thanks to the entire school community, is planned as part of the Homecoming festivities on the evening of October 15.

Business Agenda
The Board also considered several regular business items, including various personnel and business transactions which appear in an adjoining box.

Staff reports included the superintendent's update on official District enrollment figures as of October 1, 2004, which showed 2,795 students in grades K-12-a total very close to the demographer's forecast. Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Taylor renewed the charge to the joint Curriculum Committee/Site-Based Teams. Assistant Superintendent for Business and Management Services Gregory Carlson previewed the October 19 Board meeting, which will focus on budget, audit

reports, and fiscal oversight and control.
The Board dealt with several personnel, legal, and negotiations matters in executive session.
