and correcting any problems. Mr. Carlson also discussed one particular concern expressed by several parents about a route from The Wampus School, involving Windmill Farms residents, and promised further follow-up on that concern.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The Board considered, but ultimately tabled, several proposed contracts (Occupational Therapy, Athletic Trainer, CTV20 Consultants). Those items are expected to return to the agenda on September 20, with more information in response to Board questions.
A contract for Driver Education was approved, with the provider offering classes after school and on Saturdays to Byram Hills students.
NEW BUSINESS
Budget Development Calendar Draft for 2006-2007
The Board reviewed and approved its process for development of the 2006-07 school budget, which stretches from Budget Hearing I in January to the district-wide Budget Vote on May 16, 2006. Details of this calendar, and other Board meeting dates, can be found on the district’s web page.
Transportation Study – Consultant Recommendation
The Board also reviewed a proposed agreement with Transportation Advisory Service for a comprehensive review of the district’s busing operation, and approved the proposal.
STAFF REPORTS
Administrative Retreat Results

Mr. Chambers outlined the activities of the August 28 and 29 Administrative Planning Retreat, which included team-building activities, a review of successes and frustrations from 2004-05, and extensive planning for 2005-06 in a five-year context. Among the products of the retreat were suggestions for consideration by the Board, as they consider goals for the school year.
BOARD REPORTS
Board members discussed their own retreat plans, including the process by which they would weigh one another’s views on goal setting. The September 20 public meeting will include a report on the Board’s retreat, and a further review of possible goals for the school year.
OTHER BUSINESS
The Board also approved a few consent agenda items, shown in the adjacent box, and confirmed the appointment of a part-time physical education teacher for Byram Hills High School.
