Student Honors, Facilities Project Update, Policies

STUDENT HONORS
More than thirty Byram Hills seniors responded to the Board's invitation to a pre-meeting reception honoring them (and their parents) for induction into the Byram Hills High School Cum Laude Society, National Merit commendations, and/or National Merit semi-finalist recognition. After the reception, the Board opened its formal meeting with congratulations to each of these young scholars on their accomplishments. The Cum Laude Society, through its Byram Hills chapter, offers national recognition to outstanding students; the National Merit Scholarship Program, based on PSAT scores, offers commendations to the top five percent of seniors nation-wide, and designates as semi-finalists the top one percent of seniors. take one more step, and actually receive National Merit scholarships.

BUSINESS MEETING:
Facilities Project Updates

The Board's construction consultants-Triton Construction for management of the projects, and Perkins Eastman for architecture-were present to provide an update on the facilities projects currently under way. The larger project, totaling $47MM, aims to add classroom and core space to all of the District's four schools. An Athletic Facilities Project, though much smaller in scope, is also in process.

Triton Construction provided extensive summary materials to the Board, including photographs, schedule reports, and budget updates. In addition, Board members walked the sites of construction at the four schools on the morning of the meeting. The news on this project is very good, with work proceeding on or ahead of schedule, and well within budget.
