At the elementary level,
students will:

exist
- realize that any tasks, jobs, or occupations
can be done by males and females
- demonstrate qualities of
friendship
- identify how bodies change as children
grow
- recognize, refuse, and report incidences of abuse or
neglect.

At the intermediate level,
students will:
- summarize various kinds of families and how
family members nurture one another
- differentiate roles and relationships within
the family
- predict how and why friendships
change
- clarify reasons for abstinence from sexual
activity
- explain emotional and physical changes that
occur during puberty
- define and describe positive/healthy
relationships between and among males and
females
- demonstrate techniques for preventing and reporting
various types of abuse and neglect including date rape, sexual assault,
incest, and molestation.

At the commencement level,
students will:
- analyze the skills, attitudes,and
behaviors necessary to become a competent
parent
- explore careers and discuss how families are
affected by career choice
- compare and contrast mature and immature
love
- evaluate responsibilities and consequences of
sexual activity
- understand personal, psychological, emotional,
and physical benefits of delaying sexual
activity
- explore the changes in physical and sexual
functioning that occur throughout the life
cycle
- research various methods of contraception and
the effectiveness of each
- analyze psychological and sociological assets which reduce or eliminate
dating violence, date rape, and sexual
assault.

Summary: Elementary level students describe different kinds
of families and how members care for one another. They examine qualities of
friendship. They recognize how bodies grow and change. They can recognize,
refuse, and report sexual abuse.

shape values and attitudes. Adolescent issues are examined. Puberty changes
are identified. Abstinence from sexual activity is recognized as the safest
way to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. Refusal skills are demonstrated
to resist sexual abuse.

Summary: Commencement level students examine how the family
is the basic unit of society. They analyze skills, attitudes, and behaviors
needed to become a responsible parent. Students learn how dating, teen
pregnancy, and sexual activity affect friendships. Consequences of sexual
activity are evaluated with an emphasis on abstinence as the most effective
method of contraception and of preventing sexually transmitted diseases.
