Descriptions of the specific programs used throughout grades 1-8 are:

The Math Enrichment Program aims at meeting the needs of high ability math students in grades one through five. The math specialist meets with groups of students once a week at a scheduled time. Student groups are flexible, and change based on the assessed ability of the children regarding the particular math concept to be studied. The advanced students work on the same math skills and concepts as their classmates, but the core material is compacted.  This gives students the opportunity to explore and deepen their conceptual understanding.

Project CREATE is a five-week independent research program for second graders. It is an introduction to the research process through a contract that uses a series of questions and answers to guide the student. Most of the work is done at home. At school, each child works one-on-one with a parent volunteer. Students have the opportunity to learn interviewing techniques, data-gathering procedures, experimental processes, as well as more traditional research methods. The students show their understanding of a topic by completing a final project and sharing it at a Project CREATE fair.

Junior Great Books is a nationally recognized program.  It involves small group discussion and analysis of literature.  The students in each ten week session are selected by the classroom teacher to work once a week with the Junior Great Books instructor. The stories in Junior Great Books are chosen because they are open to many different interpretations. Junior Great Books participants search for their own meaning in these stories and read, listen and respond to the ideas of others.  An integral part of this program is the independent study which has to be completed at home, prior to each meeting.

The Pull-Out Enrichment Program is offered to students in grades 3-8. Students are chosen based on advanced learner criteria as well as content area strengths. Groups change based on the unit of study. The classroom curriculum is enhanced by extending and deepening different content areas. The program encourages students to use problem solving and creative thinking skills. There is independent work required and participants are expected to be organized, responsible, and prepared for each meeting.
