SUMMER
READING
2008
BYRAM HILLS HIGH SCHOOL
Expectations:
For the Byram
Hills Summer Reading Program, each student is expected to read two books from the summer reading list
and participate in a book seminar on one of those titles in September. In addition, each student must select a
minimum of two meaningful quotations or short passages from each text and
record them separately onto one side of an index card. Include page numbers. On the back of each card, an explanation of
the significance of the quotation must be included.
In order to
receive credit for the summer reading books, each student must submit index
cards and participate in a seminar discussion.
Please remember that although there is a choice regarding book
selections, each student will not be
given the choice to select a specific seminar in September. Therefore, it is
imperative that quotations and thoughts are prepared for both books. Seminar groups will be posted the morning of
the school-wide seminar.
In order to help
students make appropriate selections, a copy of each book will be available in
the high school library for a preview on May 13 and 14. Most of the books will be available during
the
HCC
book fair for middle school
students.
