Welcome to Character Education at Coman Hill

At Coman Hill character education is woven through our daily activities in our classrooms, on our playground, throughout the school building, and in the community.   In our caring community, children and adults treat each other with kindness and respect every day.  By careful design, the four components of our character education program work together to make Coman Hill a special place to learn.   But what exactly is character education?

Character education includes everything that you do at home, and we do at school to influence your child’s character.

Underlying all that we do at Coman Hill are the Six Pillars of Character Education:

Trustworthiness Respect Responsibility Fairness Caring  Citizenship

At school and at home, the behaviors we model and those we directly teach impart these values to young learners.  Rules to Live By, Marvelous Manners, Social Decision Making and Kelso’s Choice are the four instructional components of our character education program.  Each of these programs helps our students learn and live the core values represented on the six pillars.  But we cannot do this important job alone.  Parents are truly our partners in this caring community.  So please click on one of the links above to learn more about our programs and the ways in which, together, we can keep our caring community growing and strong.
