The event is a celebration of young people making a difference. Tickets cannot be bought rather they are earned through a commitment to service.</p> No Description <p class="p1">Students from the Global Scholars Program attended the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center Annual Human Rights Institute for High School Leaders at Iona College today. The keynote speaker, Carl Wilkins, was the only American to remain in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide. They also heard from Holocaust survivor, Judith Altmann. Lastly, they attended workshops led by students on a variety of human rights issues. Juniors Madison Gummer, Izzy Levy, and Ellie Margolin led a workshop on the impact of climate change on human rights. They were charged with addressing the question: How might we increase the participation in the census in Westchester County? The students interviewed important stakeholders to build an understanding of the problem: Terry Kirchner, Executive Director of Westchester Libraries, Beryl Harold, HR Director of Westchester Community Opportunity Program, Inc., Owen M.
