Technical Theater & Events Manager


The Media & Communication Center at Byram Hills Central School District in Armonk, NY is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Technical Theatre & Events Manager. This 10-month (September - June) position is ideal for a creative, tech-savvy candidate who is willing to have a flexible, on-call schedule based on a variety of arts and school community events throughout the District. A desire to work in an educational environment and with students is a must.

The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise auditorium events at Byram Hills High School and H.C. Crittenden Middle School (e.g. assemblies, theater productions, concerts, speakers, meetings, etc.)
  • Operate and maintain sound and lighting boards; projectors and related equipment
  • Create video and audio recordings of District performances and events
  • Consult with school and community leaders to coordinate events in theater spaces
  • Engage and educate students on technical aspects of theater equipment 
  • Collaborate with Fine Arts Department and Media & Communication Center on other related projects and tasks, as needed

Preferred tech skills:

  1. Understands 4k camcorders and can setup and breakdown event camera and audio equipment

  2. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and Premiere Pro)


  • Bachelor’s Degree or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in fields such as technical theater, communications and/or digital media 

Successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

- NY State Fingerprinting Clearance

- Valid driver’s license & vehicle

- Videography and Photography skills (Novice Level with a willingness to learn)

- Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with school community members

- Able to identify and initiate tasks

- Passionate and reliable

- Strong time management, written, oral, and communication skills

Salary: $52,000 year (10-month)
