Building Substitutes - Coman Hill School and Wampus School

The Extended School Year (ESY) program operates from July 8th - August 16th this summer. If you are interested in teaching or providing aide support in the program, please send an email to Jill Boynton. The special class program is from 9:00 to noon daily with related services. We offer the following special class programs:

  • 8:1+1  K-2
  • 12:1+1  K-2 and/or 3-5 depending on CSE recommendations
  • 8:1+1  Ungraded secondary
  • 1 to 1 direct instruction and related services as recommended. Individually scheduled by teacher/related service providers and parents.  (posted 4.24.24)

Special Education/Social Studies - Byram Hills High School (Leave Replacement) - Effective 8/28/24

Dual certification: Social Studies 7-12 and Special Education

  • 3 Classes General Education ( Global 9 and U.S. History)
  • 1 Class as the Special Education Co-Teacher (Global 9)
  • 1 Class as the Special Education Co-Teacher (Global 10)

Anticipated:     Orchestra/General Music - Elementary

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching 4th and 5th grade strings sectional lessons
  • Selecting repertoire, teaching, and conducting 5th grade orchestra
  • Preparing and teaching 3rd-5th grade General Music curricula in collaboration with music department colleagues that incorporates singing, movement, and playing Orff instruments

Strong candidates will:

  • Model proper playing technique on violin, viola, cello, and bass
  • Have basic piano accompaniment skills
  • Think creatively and incorporate innovative instructional techniques
  • Partner freely with colleagues, students, and families
  • Establish structure and appropriate boundaries for student-centered learning
  • Demonstrate understanding of the NYS Arts Standards
  • Demonstrate familiarity with a range of elementary orchestral repertoire
  • Inspire and engage all students in small and large class settings
  • Balance priorities appropriately while remaining prepared and organized
  • Must hold NYS Music certificate
