Committee on Special Education (CSE) Chairperson

Full-time probationary position for K-8 CSE Chairperson.  NYS certification in any of the following areas: special education, school psychology, school social work or related field.

This is a non-administrative 10-month position that follows the teachers' contract, calendar and schedule.

We seek a successful candidate for a CSE Chairperson who exhibits the following criteria:

  • Works collaboratively with teachers, support staff and administrators at the K-8 level.
  • Reviews and analyzes student data and evaluations prior to CSE meetings
  • Facilitates CSE meetings
  • Provides follow-up support to parents, teachers and staff
  • Confers with the Director of Special Services regarding recommendations for programs and services based on outcomes of CSE meetings, out of district referrals and adding one to one aides
  • Manages K-8 out-of district placements, conducts visits and facility reviews
  • Collaborates with the Director of Special Services in gathering and organizing any documentation for legal proceedings

Math Specialist (Grades 3-5)

The position of the Math Specialist requires an educator with extensive teaching experience at the elementary level and a demonstrated record of accomplishment as a teacher, teacher leader, and content expert.  We seek a successful candidate for a Math Specialist who exhibits the following criteria:

  • Exhibits knowledge of state and national standards in mathematics and possesses strong knowledge of mathematics content.
  • Models exemplary student-centered learning environments in the classroom.
  • Experience teaching remediation and enrichment instruction.
  • Uses research-based interventions in a multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to reach the needs of all learners.
  • Utilizes data to understand students' needs and inform student learning.
  • Demonstrates experience in leading conversations around curriculum, instruction, and assessments.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty to design, lead, and support ongoing professional learning and model high quality instruction practices.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, which include positive mindset, listening for understanding, growth mind-set, collaboration, communication, and creativity.
  • Collaborates with faculty and building and District leaders to develop and continually.displays enthusiasm, creativity, and continuous learning.
