CLASS OF 2019

July, 2019: Ethan Jacobs is recognized as one of 20 students who are Google Science Fair Global Finalists throughout the world. He will be traveling to Google headquarters in California to compete for scholarships and prizes. 

May, 2019: Our students, Samantha Abbruzzese, Brent Perlman and Renner Kwittken travel with their teacher, Dr. Caroline Matthew, to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, Arizona to compete with students from all over the world.  Renner is awarded 3rd place in translational medicine and Brent wins 4th place in microbiology.

May, 2019: Renner Kwittken and Joshua Freedman travel to Albuquerque, NM to compete at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.

May, 2019: Isabelle Ilan, Elyse Kanner and Emma Lucchino compete at the New York State Science and Engineering Fair and each is awarded third place in their category.

3/27/19: Seven seniors compete at Upstate New York Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Joshua Freedman and Renner Kwittken go head to head at the finals and are both given the highest honors to move on to compete at the national level, with Josh earning first place and Renner earning fourth. Our poster presenter, Emma Lucchino, earns third place.

3/16/19: 28 seniors receive an unprecedented number of awards at the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair, with three students moving on to the New York State Science and Engineering Fair and three others competing at the International Science and Engineering Fair.

3/10/19: Brent Perlman becomes Byram Hills' 20th national finalist for the Regeneron Science Talent Search.  During a week long competition, Brent eventually is awarded seventh place in the nation for his work on human photosynthesis.

2/9/19: 25 seniors compete at the Westchester-Rockland Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Seven students move on to compete at the state level as speakers and poster presenters. 

1/9/19: Seven students are recognized as Regeneron Top Scholars: Alessandra Colella, Alan Chang, Ethan Jacobs, Jonah Schwam, Samantha Abbruzzese and Brent Perlman help to bring our total number of semi-finalists to 111 over the 30 years of our program's history.

January, 2019: Samantha Abbruzzese and Rachel Chernoff are announced as Neuroscience Research Prize finalists. Rachel will be honored as one of the top four finalists at the National Conference of the American Academy of Neurology in the spring. 

CLASS OF 2017

1/4/17: Three seniors are recognized as Regeneron Top Scholars: Yasmin Bayley, Isabelle Chong and Audrey Saltzman. Audrey goes on as of 40 finalists in the Regeneron Science Talent Search.

1/6/17 Senior Jamie Begleiter is accepted by ACORDA for a radio interview about her research on alopecia.

2/15/17: David Berglund is selected as a national finalist in the American Academy of Neurology’s Neuroscience Research Prize.

3/4/17: Thirty seniors present their work at the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair. Audrey Saltzman and Isabelle Chong along with numerous other students are awarded for their research. Audrey & Isabelle move on to present their work at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, CA as finalists.

3/8/17: Michelle Morgenthal receives third place in the state for her research on healthy risk-taking behavior in adolescents at the Upstate Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.

4/8/17: Three seniors present their work at the MIT Inspire competition: Chloe Canaan, Michelle Morgenthal and Sarah Ehrlich. Both Michelle and Sarah receive Honorable Mention.

5/1/16 Bailey Winston takes first place in Math and Computer Science for his statistical analysis of player value in Major League Baseball

Sarah Crucilla, Alex Mautner, and Jared Okun have their science research abstracts published

4/30/16 Sela Berenblum wins BRONZE at the international ISWEEEP sustainability competition for her investigation into molecular docking in emergency contraception

4/29/16 Gregory Marinaccio, Micah Jeng and Sarah Tang are recognized by ACORDA for their work and present their findings on a local radio broadcast

4/29/16 Dominick Rowan wins GOLD at the national Junior Science and Engineering Symposium for his quantification of the frequency of Jupiter-like planets

3/12/16 Twenty four seniors are award winners at Byram Hill's first full showing at the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair

1/1/16 BHHS has 3 of 12 top finalists in the American Academy of Neurology's Neuroscience Research Prize: Brian Singer, Sarah Crucilla, and Ryan Infante

11/15/15 Senior Dominick Rowan, a Siemens Finalist, is published in an astrophysics journal for his collaboration on determining the frequency of Jupiter analogs, and for the discovery of a previously unidentified planet.

11/11/15 Thirty nine seniors submit their work to the Intel Science Talent Search, with projects ranging from artificial intelligence, to the neurobiology of optical illusions, to why worms in your intestines are not always a bad thing.

10/22/15 Senior Alex Mautner's work on self-esteem and summer camp is accepted for presentation at the 2016 American Camp Association Research Forum in February

10/12/15 A record sixteen students submit to the Siemens Westinghouse competition. Senior Dominick Rowan becomes the first Westinghouse finalist at BH.
